On October 6, four Barnard alumnae who are lawyers met with
representatives of the Barnard Women's Center. (A brochure
about the Center is enclosed for your information.) The
alumnae were Mary Vincent Bernson '27, Helene Kaplan '53,
Paula Ryan '58, and Margrit Bernstein '66.

We discussed the feasibility of a Barnard Lawyers‘ Committee,
a group of Barnard alumnae who were lawyers, who might work
pro bono publico on legal projects in association with the
Center.

We decided that we should meet again on Tuesday, November 16,
at 4:30 p.m. in the Columbia University Club, 4 West 43rd
Street, New York. We wanted to ask Barnard alumnae in the
region who were lawyers, Barnard alumnae in the region who
were in law school, women students at Columbia Law School,
and other interested people to join us. We very much hope
that you will be able to do so. Enclosed is a list of
some of the subjects we hope to discuss.

The meeting will be on the second floor, in the Van Am Room
of the Columbia Club, which will be open at 4:00, if you wish
to come early, Again, we hope you will be able to join us
in what we think might be a uniquely valuable project.
