The 21-year-old daughter of a Japanese diplomat won top prize this year in the fifth annual essay contest sponsored by The Asian Student, a weekly paper published in the United States by the Asian Foundation. Reiki Kase, the daughter of Toshikasu Kase, former Japanese to the United nations, attends Barnard College in New York city. Writing on "The Role of Religion in Modern Asia," she received a check for one hundred dollars and a certificate of merit for her essay. She plans to contribute this money to some worthy organization whose work promotes understanding between Asia and the United States. Show less
