My inquiry concerns my right, if any, to retain my maiden name after marriage. I married in the spring and decided at that time to retain my maiden name. I was under the impression that the change of name was purely voluntary. However, since that time, especially when applying for a job, I have encountered a great deal of hostility, confusion, and embarrassment.
