I married in the spring and decided at that time to retain my maiden name. I was under the impression that the change of name was purely voluntary. However, since that time, especially when applying for a job, I have encountered a great deal of hostility, confusion, and embarrassment. I have been informed that I have no right to retain it, that I automatically and legally lost my name
